Curriculum Overview

Our curriculum is designed to develop each child’s academic abilities, creativity, and moral character. We follow the national education standards while incorporating interactive learning and real-world experiences to prepare our students for higher education and life beyond school.

Preparatory School Subjects

Primary School Subjects (Grades 1–6)

• Social Science – Understanding society, history, and the environment
• Health & Physical Education (PE) – Promoting health, fitness, and well-being

Lower Secondary School Subjects (Grades 7–8)

Upper Secondary School (Grades 11–12)

• Markham Road Academy is committed to expanding into Upper Secondary education in the near future
• This expansion will further strengthen pathways to higher education and professional careers

Our Teaching Approach

Markham Road Academy follows the Standards-Based Education (SBE) approach as guided by the Papua New Guinea Department of Education. Our teaching focuses on developing clear competencies in learners by ensuring that every student achieves the required learning standards at each level. Through learner-centered, activity-based, and continuous assessment strategies, we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed for academic success and lifelong learning.
